    car won't start

basicly yes, the car won't start.. the battery seems to be full of life and is doing its job. but it won't start up. last time i used it was yesterday around 3. and the only thing thats changed on the car yesterday was that i fitted a new fog lamp bulb on the passenger side
but non of thats the problem.
(think the engine management light is on) but i've never taken notice when its on or off if you know what i mean.
i think if its fudged or is going to cost me more of my money. it will be sold....
can't be doing with the french craftsmanship

    youll probably find its fixable

Im afraid i dont know the problem, but take it to a decent garage and get them to have a look at it.
Might cost you 10 or so
Take it to another one, pretend you still have no idea, if they say its the same thing, take it to the cheapest but best value for money garage and get it fixed.

If it wont start, people wont want to buy it.

Worth a try cause its free, and it worked for me.

Basically car was turning over but not starting, and the dash lights would die too.

Connect a jump lead to the -ve on the battery, then to the engine block (we used the hoop thing that the engine crane would connect to) then try starting the car like this, if it starts straight away, its an earth (either gearbox, or chassis, there's only 2 coming off the battery, it'll be one of them).

As I said, worth a try cause its free.

possibly no fuel going to the engine.

Basically just think of all the things it could be and start to elimate them one by one, such as whether u've got power, whether your getting fuel to the cylinders, whether your getting spark etc. Its a bit hard to rectify without looking at it tbh! James

    Coilpacks gone imo.

Whip it off and stick some spark plugs on the end and earth them onto your strut, turn the ignition and see if its firing or not. If theres no spark say goodbye to a quick 100 for a new one

Agree with titch mate, try the earth. My bros quicky did exactly what you've said about a month ago, it was bad connections/wiring from batery/gearbox neutral. Have a check that it all looks in tact

It could be a bad earth (gearbox, body or the T-bar which IIRC, is in the engine bay fuse box?). But if you've got electrics and the spark plugs are firing, I'd say it's maybe not an electrical fault.

Can you hear the fuel pump priming? It sounds like possibly the crank sensor has either a) moved or b) is clogged with dirt or c) totally dead.

Also, press the red button by the brake servo and try again, just in case

if it stopped after a bump its simple, open bonnet press red button (by the right strut and battery), then try to start, should work fine afterwards
